Free Nick Sortor: Conservative Influencer Arrested After ANTIFA Clash in Portland

On the night of October 2, 2025, Portland once again became the backdrop for a heated confrontation between protesters, federal authorities, and conservative journalist Nick Sortor. What was supposed to be another tense evening outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility spiraled into chaos when Sortor, a rising figure within the conservative movement, was arrested on charges of “Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree.”
But many eyewitness accounts suggest the story isn’t as straightforward as the arrest records imply.

Eyewitness Reports: “Looked Like Nick Sortor Got Jumped”

According to multiple journalists on the ground, including Katie Daviscourt, Sortor was not simply part of the clash-he was reportedly attacked by ANTIFA members before law enforcement intervened. One journalist bluntly stated:
“Looked like Nick Sortor got jumped… Portland liaison officers stand nearby and watch.”

That observation raises troubling questions: why would law enforcement allow a physical altercation to unfold right in front of them, only to arrest one of the victims afterward?

The Arrest

Sortor was one of three individuals arrested, alongside Angela Davis of Vernonia and Son Mi Yi of Portland, and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Centre. Police cited ongoing fights at the protest, claiming they witnessed multiple physical altercations outside the ICE facility driveway.

According to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB), Dialogue Liaison Officers (DLOs) saw “two men fighting” before federal officers briefly detained and released both parties. But when further fights broke out, the Rapid Response Team (RRT) moved in and made targeted arrests-including Sortor.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the PPB declared:
“Police have observed several fights and other criminal behavior. We will be making targeted arrests. Do not interfere with police action.”

But this broad statement does little to address the fact that video evidence and live commentary show Sortor being physically confronted by ANTIFA members moments before his arrest.

A Divisive Figure

There’s no denying that Nick Sortor is a controversial figure. With a strong presence in the MAGA movement, Sortor has built a reputation for challenging mainstream narratives and documenting unrest in cities like Portland. His critics accuse him of being provocative, while his supporters see him as one of the few voices willing to shine light on issues that corporate media refuses to cover.

This isn’t the first time Sortor has been at the center of political chaos, but the circumstances of his arrest fuel suspicions that conservative journalists and activists are being unfairly targeted.

Portland PD have arrested my friend and citizen journalist, Nick Sortor. Nick personally delivered Starlink all over Western North Carolina to first responders. The phrase “Free Nick Sortor” quickly began circulating online, with conservatives pointing to a double standard in how Portland authorities handle left-wing versus right-wing demonstrators.

Why wasn’t ANTIFA held accountable for attacking a journalist? Why was a conservative voice taken into custody while Portland liaison officers reportedly stood by and did nothing?

These questions remain unanswered, but one thing is clear: Nick Sortor’s arrest has reignited debates over freedom of the press, political bias in policing, and the escalating tensions in Portland’s streets.

For now, Sortor faces misdemeanor charges, but his supporters argue this case is much larger than a simple disorderly conduct arrest-it’s a test of whether conservative journalists can safely report in America’s most volatile cities.
