Described by Shohei Ohtani’s representative, Nez Balelo, as a “historic contract for a truly unique superstar,” the deal brings an average annual salary of $70 million, nearly doubling his previous $42.3 million earnings with the Los Angeles Angels.
Having achieved numerous milestones in MLB history, Shohei Ohtani has become one of the world’s highest commercial value athletes, drawing massive ticket sales and substantial sponsorships from various brands.
Born in Oshu, Iwate, Japan, in 1994, Shohei Ohtani played for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) before making his move to the United States.
