In the race for the 2024 U.S. presidential election, a standout candidate has emerged, surpassing both former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden. Nikki Haley, a prominent figure within the Republican Party, has been identified as a more formidable contender than Donald Trump in a hypothetical matchup against Joe Biden, according to a Wall Street Journal poll.

Results from the Wall Street Journal survey indicate that former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, leads President Joe Biden by a significant margin in the hypothetical presidential race, with a fourfold difference compared to the current Republican frontrunner, Donald Trump. The poll suggests that Haley would outperform Biden by a margin of 51% to 34% in the nationwide popular vote if she secures the Republican nomination for the 2024 election.
In contrast, former President Donald Trump maintains a lead over the current Democratic candidate with a 47%-43% margin, while Florida Governor Ron DeSantis even ties with Biden at 45%-45%. Despite being considered a leading contender for the Republican nomination, Trump faces 91 criminal charges across four separate legal jurisdictions.
Meanwhile, Nikki Haley has positioned herself as the most electable Republican candidate in the 2024 presidential election, aiming to convince voters that she represents the party’s best chance of victory. Haley emphasized this point in an early August Republican Party debate, stating, “We have to face the reality that Trump is the least favorable politician in the U.S. We cannot win the election that way.”
Politico’s analysis of four recent polls regarding the 2024 U.S. presidential election indicates that Nikki Haley would attract a significant portion of independent and moderate voters. These are individuals who disapprove of President Biden’s leadership but harbor even greater disdain for Donald Trump.

A Fox News survey conducted last month revealed that while Biden would surpass Trump by a 4-point margin among female voters, Haley would have a 5-point advantage over Biden. According to the Wall Street Journal poll, if independent and third-party candidates are included, Trump’s lead over Biden increases to 6 percentage points, reaching 37% compared to 31%.
Only 23% of respondents in the survey stated that Biden’s policies as president have been beneficial to them, while 53% claimed they have been harmed. RealClear Politics’ tracking of seven polls indicates that Trump leads the other Republican contenders with an average of nearly 48% support among potential Republican voters.
Haley positions herself as the most formidable Republican candidate, advocating for a strong military stance by transforming the U.S. Department of Defense into an “Attack Department” to instill fear in political adversaries. She has called for robust military aid to both Ukraine and Israel, asserting that Washington’s goal should be to “eliminate Hamas rather than weaken this force.” As the 2024 presidential race unfolds, Nikki Haley emerges as a compelling and influential candidate, promising a unique approach and vision for the future of the United States.
